Woman 'sacked from chippy' for giving free sausage to homeless man

A takeaway worker who gave a homeless man a free sausage with his food says she has been sacked from her job following the incident.

Catherine Howard, 49, from Southport, was previously employed as a kitchen assistant at The Embassy takeaway on Nevill Street in the town.

She claims that she was dismissed from her job on Tuesday (July 7) for giving away a sausage to a homeless man.

Towards the end of her shift, Catherine said a homeless man had paid for £4.10 for chips and curry sauce and that she decided to give him one of the leftover sausages with his meal.

Two days later, she alleges that she was called back into work on her day off where she was told she was being sacked for her actions.
