Project to increase short stay homeless accommodation in Chichester reaches 'pivotal point'

Described as a 'key milestone', councillors have supported proposals to redevelop one of Chichester District Council's properties at Freeland Close, which will provide an additional 17 flats for people who are homeless.

“We are delighted to have reached this pivotal point in the project, which we know will make a real long-term difference to people,” said councillor Alan Sutton, Cabinet Member for Housing, Communications, Licensing and Events.

“Our officers and contractors have been working hard behind the scenes to move this project forward and we are now at the stage where we can look to start the redevelopment work. We have been inviting contractors to submit their ideas to us and we will shortly be selecting our preferred developer.”
