Housing Executive chief "deeply concerned" at homelessness numbers

The head of the Housing Executive has told Belfast City Council the growth in applications for temporary accommodation in the city is “deeply concerning,” as new homeless and housing stress figures were revealed.

The latest statistics show a staggering 3,326 people are homeless in the city, with 5,149 placements in temporary accommodation over the past year, and a sharp rise in housing stress, or those people most in need of homes, in recent years.
