Liverpool homeless shelter saved from closure thanks to generous donor

A generous donor has stepped in and saved a struggling city centre homeless shelter from closure.

The Cotton Street Project was on the brink of collapse due to coronavirus and the effect it has had fundraising and charity events.

But a firm in Cheshire have now put the shelter back to steady ground by donating a whopping £20,000 to the cause.

Community Windpower have now provided the funds to help the shelter support its 14 current residents until July, while it makes plans for a fully sustainable centre.

Andrea Pankiw, head of charity at The Cotton Street Project, said: “Without this support from Community Windpower we thought the shelter would close in the next few weeks.
