Our 24-bed high-support hostel offers private single and double/twin rooms for adults, primarily with a local connection, who have fallen through society’s cracks and have nowhere to go.
High-Support Hostel
The heart of Crawley Open House is our high-support residential hostel in Three Bridges. We offer 24 beds in 18 rooms. It is safe, dry, warm, welcoming and managed by our experienced and compassionate team of hostel workers and care professionals 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
The hostel is a place of hope. It offers three meals a day, has a large sitting and dining area, and provides our clients with a chance to rebuild their lives in a safe, supportive atmosphere.
Demand for a place in the hostel is high. It has an annual occupancy rate of 99%, and the average length of stay is 10-12 weeks.
Every resident is an individual. A person-centred approach means clients can access professionals from health, advice and resettlement teams. A person-centred approach means that we have time to listen to residents and personalise the expert help they receive. They can access support around health, housing and financial issues. We work in a deeply collaborative way with all local agencies, councils and fellow charities for the wellbeing of our residents. This results in high resettlement rates with more than 60% of clients resettled to more permanent accommodation.
Resident's Story
Corinna
One of our hostel residents, Corinna shares her story. Originally from the Chagos Archipelago, in the Indian Ocean, Corinna came to this country in 2024 seeking a better life. Crawley is home to the largest Chagossian community in the UK. About 3,500 Chagossians or two-thirds of the UK's total Chagossian population live in the town. To better support this community Crawley Open House recruited a Chagossian support worker in 2026.
“I came to the UK a couple of years ago because Chagossians are not treated well in Mauritius, and I was also concerned about drug-related issues.
I was homeless for more than two years sleeping rough on the streets and dealing with a lot of stress and uncertainty. Then I heard about Crawley Open House through other people. They told me it was a good place where I would receive a lot of support and help.
Since I’ve moved into the hostel living here has made me feel happy and secure.
I don’t feel like I have to face my problems alone.
The staff have supported me with my health and help me get to my medical appointments.
They help me with things I don’t understand and thanks to them I am also learning English.
I can’t thank them enough. My life has completely changed since coming here and I am very proud to live here.
I’m also more positive about the future.
I’d like to continue improving my English and eventually have my own flat. One day, I would love to tell my grandchildren about my time at Crawley Open House and how much they helped me rebuild my life.”
